2018 has arrived and with a whole new year ahead of us, we decided to look back at one of the most influential decades in modern history for inspiration for our latest photo shoot.
When approaching the idea of bringing the seventies into the studio, it was important to create the right atmosphere. Props like an old record player, potted foliage and textured materials were all brought into the studio to give the feeling this set up could be someone’s home in the seventies. A patterned screen and different colouramas made two different spaces for the model to interact with, producing a wide range of imagery.
Connecting the old with the new was the main note when it came to styling the model. New items were bought and paired with vintage pieces to create different looks that represented both decades. To bring of a more modern twist to the photo shoot, the model’s hair and make up was styled using the techniques more commonly used today, including full eyebrows and highlighted cheekbones.
At the end of the shoot, we decided to experiment a little more with the concept. The hair was sleeked back and the make up striped back to create a healthy, glowing look. The backdrop was neutral to keep the focus on the face, with seventies inspired glasses added to tie in with the previous set up. Water was sprayed onto the model's face to add an edgier tone to the shoot, the outcome being a stunning set of images that represent the more editorial side of fashion.
